As we enter the month of September signs of fall are starting to show. This year has been one of challenges and opportunities. While we have been unable to socialize due to covid-19 we have seen a year of many new members. For those looking for classes we have completed dry land classes for the season and are working to complete on the water training before the end of the season. as we end this season’s classes we are planning next spring’s classes which will begin in April. Watch for notices of the classes in March.
Everyone should have received the latest update of proposed by-laws changes as they relate to board structure. Thanks to the work Jane Wiechel, Steve Delisle and Mike Jackson for their work on researching board structures and responding to the input from members in developing the final proposal. We will be conducting a brief meeting on Sunday September 13, 2020 beginning at 1:00 PM to answer questions and begin the voting process. Ballots can be submitted between 1:00 & 3:00 PM and may be submitted in person or by proxy. If you are submitting a proxy ballot you will need to request a proxy ballot from Jane Wiechel via email at jwiechel52@gmail.com so that we can record you as a proxy vote and we know who is submitting you vote. All votes will be anonymous and you can submit your ballot without leaving you vehicle. There will be a ballot box and members to receive your ballots and members of the board wearing masks and gloves will accept your ballot. We hope to receive 100% participation by the membership in this important vote.
With the upcoming annual meeting, covid forced us to make adjustments to keep everyone safe and yet allow us to conduct business. We will provide every member with a financial and activity summary prior to the meeting. We will also provide members with a slate of candidates for the board and with that slate will be a a brief biography on the slate. While we have not completed all the details of the meeting we are working toward a meeting that will allow participation without potentially being exposed to the covid virus. We currently have the meeting set for Sunday October 18. Watch for more details in the next few weeks.
Planning has begun for Dock Days. All boats will need to off club property by October 21. We will start working on the actual removal of the docks on Friday October 23 and will continue on October 24. The start time for both days will be 9:00 AM. We will formulate teams to work on each dock we have last fall and this spring. Sign up sheets for specific functions are available on the web site. Contact Mike Jackson or myself with any questions.
