MERRY CHRISTMAS!
2025 will be a memory in few couple of weeks and we will soon enter
into a new sailing season. In this new season we look at the
opportunities to make improvements and the support to accomplish those
goals. Volunteerism is one of the cornerstones of the club and we need
every membership to do what they can to complete projects and make the
various social events an enjoyable and memorable experience. I do
want to thank Pat Shettle, Loraine Wheeler and Christopher Elliot for
volunteering their time to be boat managers of the club boats for the
2026 season. In this role these volunteers will constantly monitor the
safety and cleanliness of the club boats. In the coming months they
will go through a training session that outlines the inspection
process to be carried out on a regular basis. This is just one of the
many activities that will be available for members to support the
club. At the end of March we will have our annual spring banquet. The
banquet will be one of the first opportunities where you will have
the opportunity to volunteer for an activity or project that allows
you to either utilize a talent you have or learn a new tallent.
Throughout the season we will post opportunities giving each
membership to choose something of interest to them.
There are two changes to the city structure and one affecting the
kayak storage fee. The in water city slip fee has increased from $500
to $560. The city fee for day sailer boats with no motors will be
reduced from $100 to $45 for the season. After two seasons of kayak
storage it was noted that all users have opted for the winter storage
option. For that reason the MSC Board has changed the fee structure
from 2 payments to a single payment of $70. Remember that the storage
MUST be paid by March 15 in order to retain you your spot. All other
fees will remain the same as last year.
While spring is a few months away our spring banquet is a little more
than 90 days away. For our newer members this is a social event that
allows older members to get to know you and for you to get to know
them. This is also a time where we layout the plans for the upcoming
season More information on this event will be post in January and
February
On the third Tuesday of each month the Muncie Parks Board meets to
discuss operations and plans for the future. We have maintained at
presence at these meetings so stay informed on any issues that might
affect the club. The December meeting held yesterday did not have any
issues that will.directly affect us since the major focus was the
closing of the campgrounds. Prairie Creek is seeking a new
superintendent and the hope is to have that position filled quickly.
At this point we do not expect that this vacancy will have any major
impacts on our operations.
Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
