In six short weeks we will begin to see the beginnings of the 2022 sailing season. I have included a like at the end of this message for those who do not want to use the electronic system of payment and prefer to mail in their fees. Simply click on the link and print out the form. As  always if you have questions or problems please call me so that we can get things resolved. As a reminder dues are required by March 15, 2022 to hold your slip assignment or if you have a special request. We will begin assigning slips being March 16, 2022.By early April we will be installing additional new docks on A dock for those who have requested a finger dock. You will be receiving additional notices about Spring Banquet, Dock Day(s) and launching over the next several weeks. We will also be posting all of this information on the web site so if you do miss an email you can always check things out on the web site.As soon as the ground thaws we will begin work to erect the gin pole. The actual raising of the pole will occur when we can coordinate the scheduling of city of Muncie’s crane. Once the pole is erected it will be useable and we will schedule classes on the safety and proper use of the pole. Anyone wanting to use the pole will be required to attend one of the training sessions. We will have multiple sessions and the will be conducted at times to accommodate everyone. At the end of March we will be conducting a couple different training classes on proper radio procedure. We are encouraging everyone who has a radio to have it on while on the water. Last year there were a couple of incidents that would have been helpful if people could have made radio contact with those on the water. While cell phones do work on Prairie Creek many people put them in a secure location to protect them from damage or loss. This class is also beneficial if you intend to navigate federal waterways such as the Great Lakes where cell phones do not work.Leon Pinson has agreed to head up the racing program this year with assistance from Roger Domingo. Racing does hone your sailing skills and based on the last year’s program the participants had a great time on the water as well as having friendly competition. Even if you have never raced before you will be given the information you need to compete and you do not have to be the fastest boat on the water since every boat is handicapped to level the playing field. We continue to look for activities that interest our members so if you have any suggestions of events or activities that other members might enjoy please contact me or any of our board members. Pictures of board members will be posted in the clubhouse or check the web site.Keep watching your email for updates and check the website as well.Think spring!
