Happy Easter!

There is a rumor that spring is here but Mother Nature apparently has not gotten the message. Due to multiple days of rain, cold temperatures, snow and wind we are far behind in getting our tasks completed so that we could conduct Dock Days. This week we should complete the installation of the new slips on A dock which will then allow us to get on to the remaining installations. This week we will be working on Tuesday to complete the new slip installation so if  you have some extra time and would like to help we will be working from about 10:30 am until early afternoon. I do want to thank all those who came out last week to help us assemble the various dock sections and get the main walkway launched and secured.

This coming Friday and Saturday April 22 & 23 are the official dock days. We will start at 9:00 am and work until late afternoon. We will have coffee and donuts in the morning and there will be soft drinks and water throughout the day. We will break for lunch at noon and ask that everyone bring their own lunch. If you would like to help and cannot dedicate the entire day we will accept any time that you can give. There are on-line sign up sheets for each day so that you can review the help we need. The sign-up sheets help us with organizing workers and efficiently make job assignments. This is a good time to get to know many of our new members and exchange stories and ideas. On Saturday the major focus will be cleaning the inside of the house and getting the picnic tables distributed. See Jake Dunnick or Charlie Earhart for more details.

Once Dock Days are behind us we will begin work on the gin pole. We have a fair amount of fabrication to be completed as well as painting of the pole. Once those tasks are completed we will be scheduling the actual raising of the pole which will be a significant event. We will be hoping for a calm day when the time comes.

If all goes well this coming week we will have the Go-Hoist in place for people to begin doing maintenance on their boat. Use of the Go-Hoist does require that users be trained before using the hoist. For those who have been trained remember that a minimum of two people must be present to raise and lower the boat. We will do our best to schedule the hoist and allow everyone the time they need to complete their maintenance. If you are planning to do bottom painting please use plastic or a tarp on the ground so that we do not create an unsightly or hazardous situation.

Dock assignments are posted on the website and there will be a hard copy posted on the bulletin board outside the restrooms. The house and gate codes have been changed to the code that you have on your membership cards. The house is fully functional and bathrooms are working. Remember do not share the house and gate codes with non-members. Park security is working and may challenge you if they do not know you. We are providing them with a list of members so that they are able to confirm your membership. On April 25, 2022 the access code to the members only side will change to the current gate code. Until that date use last year’s gate code.

If you are using the website and want to get to the members only side the password is the 4 digit gate code. This is yet another reason not to share the gate codes. Information on this side of the website is intended for members only and is not intended for the general public. If you want to reserve the club house and/or the picnic shelter you can do so by going to the members only side of the website and reserving the facility you want. There is no charge for the facilities but we ask that you leave them as you found them. Your cooperation is appreciated. If you have any questions about reserving the facilities please contact me.

Please check the club calendar for upcoming events. The most up to date calendar is posted on the website but a hard copy will be posted on the bulletin board outside the restrooms. Remember to check for personal events in the club house and the pavilion.

Hope to see you on Dock Days!
