Hope this message finds all of you well and ready for the 2021 sailing season. Yes 2020 is behind us and we are moving on to 2021. If you have not been at the club recently you might want to take a ride and see the new roof and soon new soffit, facia and gutters. The downspouts are being relocated so that water will discharge at the northeast and south west corners of the house. This relocation should resolve some if not all of the water issues we have experienced in the past. All the work on the house should be completed before Thanksgiving.
Work on 2021 has started with maintenance on various boats underway and committee planning started. Additionally we are in discussions with the Parks Department working toward the mutual benefit of improving facilities at the reservoir and addressing boating safety. While these discussions are just beginning the initial indications are very exciting and hopeful. As we get concrete details those will be posted. Internally the formation of committees is underway to support social, maintenance and recruiting activities. As we roll out these committees we will be seeking the help of club members to make each of the programs successful. In January we will begin to work on a detailed marketing plan with the assistance of an intern from Ball State. Our goal is to accelerate the growth of new members and in particular to attract members that will take us into the next decade. At the beginning of April we will have a sailing education plan in place to support those looking for basic sailing skills. We will repeat this program based on demand. Covid is still an unknown as it relates to social activities but we are looking at how we can safely socialize.
In the mean time have a happy Thanksgiving Day and stay well!
