As we enter March there are multiple events and deadlines coming up. Below is a summary of each activity;
Membership Applications:
Renewing membership ships are due by March 15, 2024 to avoid a $25 late fee. As of today we are less than 50% of the membership renewed. The importance of meeting this date is that membership cards, permits and dock assignments need to be completed of a smooth start of the season. The initial distribution of membership cards and permits will be distributed at the annual banquet. For those who signed up for a kayak storage spot remember that if your fees are not paid by March 15, 2024 your spot is not guaranteed..
Annual Banquet:
Our annual banquet will be held on April 6, 2024. Aside from getting back together and sharing stories over a meal we will present information on activities and projects that have been and will be completed during the upcoming season. We have had some questions about skipping the meal and coming for just the information. All members are welcome at the banquet event if they do not want to come for the meal. The business portion of the banquet will start about 6:00 PM. In addition to membership cards and permits being issued we will be distributing a limited number of eclipse glasses to attendees and we will be distributing the eclipse tee shirts to those who have purchased them.
Solar Eclipse:
April 8, 2024 is the date of the solar eclipse. We have posted a request for members to work one of 3 four hour shifts to assist in securing our property. We are still in need of a few people to work the 3:00-6:00 PM shift. If you can assist in this effort please go to the website and sign up. On Friday April 5, 2024 we will barricade both drives and post signs that there is no public access on club property. The city of Muncie is also posting our property as a no public access property and any unauthorized vehicles will be towed at the owner’s expense. On the day of the eclipse members will be able to access the club and the club house will be open to members and guests. For those who have volunteered to work securing the property we will be distributing additional information on security and EMS services as well as some other information If you are interested in purchasing one of the eclipse tee shirts make sure you place you order no later than Match 7, 2024 so that we can get the order processed on time. Kayak Storage Project:
The construction of the 10 kayak storage spaces is complete. The structure is ready for painting and we are looking for volunteers to paint the area prior to opening it for storage. The paint is simple and only requires work on a ladder at the entrance to each bin. The goal is to complete the painting this month. If you can help with this project please contact me for details. If two coats are required it will not require more than 2 days to complete.
